Eco trees are native species planted in designated eco reserves in new developments. Working with developers and municipalities, we have identified fallow industrially impacted lands that can be brought back into the native forest cover. Eco trees bring communities back into balance, creating green space and sequestering carbon. In 2008/2009 we planted 56,000 trees to create a park for the Cowichan Regional District. The land was donated by a developer and will become a permanent green space for generations to come. Promoting eco reserves in urban settings increases community environmental awareness and promotes biodiversity while sequestering carbon on otherwise unproductive, damaged ecosystems.
