Spirit trees are trees planted on First Nation lands in British Columbia. The trees throughout their lifetime will sequester up to 2.5 metric tonnes of carbon each. The native tree species will contribute to the natural diversity. Your planted trees will stabilize ground, improve the plant growth that includes medicine trees, berry species and restore devastated mountain pine beetle forests with a diversity of replacements for dead pine. An area the size of England has been impacted by the mountain pine beetle. Much of this impacted forest surrounds First Nation�s communities. The First Nations of British Columbia do not have the financial means to plant trees themselves. Our successful pilot program planted 150,000 trees in First Nation�s historic territories providing employment and restoring local ecosystems. There is a tremendous opportunity reduce fire hazard and maintain, increase bio diversity and sequester carbon through our Spirit tree program.
